Hello everyone, my name is Tiana Gilliland. I am a senior majoring in both Healthcare Administration and Business Administration with minors in Health Promotion and Ethics. I am your ASSOU Student Body President and I am excited to make sure that students have their voice heard and that they are aware of what student government is so they can learn more on how to be involved. My goals are to make sure that I have regular communication with students to let them know what student government is with the utilization of a monthly newsletter, regular tabling, and posters on campus. I am an advocate for basic needs on campus to make sure students know how to access financial aid, utilize the food pantry, as well as use the services at our Student Health and Wellness Center. I want to make sure that we have constant communication with students to serve them and support them to have positive impacts on our campus and beyond.

Sierra Garrett is a Honors College Senior majoring in Sustainability, minoring in Communication Studies, and getting certificates in Environmental Communication and Sustainability Leadership. Her academic and professional goals include increasing equity in food production and access, promoting circular economic and agricultural frameworks, and using eco-social art as a vehicle for change. As the Director of Sustainability and Civic Engagement, Sierra advocates for students on all spectrums of engagement and works to make changes to affordability, accessibility, and empowerment of sustainability-centered student work.

-My main focus in student government is growing ASSOU’s presence by collaborating with student organizations, engaging with the student body, and advocating for student rights and needs. Building partnerships with faculty and administration, utilizing social media and online platforms, and connecting with other student governments are effective strategies to expand ASSOU’s influence. By actively pursuing these initiatives, I can contribute to the growth and impact of ASSOU on campus and at the state level
