Week of Welcome is an engaging collection of activities and events that help you connect with SOU and learn about campus life, resources, and build relationships with other new students.
Those attending can expect to:
- Connect with other new Raiders through community-building activities and a wide variety of interactive events
- Discover all the ways to get connected and involved at SOU
- Learn about helpful resources for academic success
- Get tips on how to navigate the college experience

Thursday, September 15, 2022: Move-In for New Students

Evening – Downtown Adventures
Explore Downtown Ashland with the Raider Welcome Team.
Friday, September 16, 2022: Move-In for New Students
Morning – Student Recreation Tour
Activate your Student Recreation Center access and get a tour of the facility.
Afternoon – Orientation Sessions for Students & Families
Sessions designed to connect you to campus. We will have sessions for families as well as new students.
Afternoon – Tours of Campus and Ashland
Meet us in front of the Hawk for a variety of tours.
Evening – Welcome Gathering for New Students & Families
New students! Join us outside of The Hawk to grab your SOU gear!
Evening – Outdoor Movie and Activities
Raider Village will host movies on the lawn and the Student Recreation Center will host outdoor games.
Saturday, September 17, 2022: Game Day Festivities

Morning – Tours of Campus and Ashland
Meet us in front of the Hawk for a variety of tours.
Afternoon – Football Tailgate
Join us outside the Raider Stadium for a Student and Family Tailgate for lunch before the football game against College of Idaho.
Evening Activities
We will take students off campus to shop at Target and/or Fred Meyer.

Monday, September 19, 2022: Convocation
9:30 AM – Convocation
This is our formal induction and welcome to SOU. Please be on time! Families and parents are welcome to join us. Following Convocation there will be a campus photo and food fair.

1:30 PM – Consent is Sexy Workshop
We strongly encourage all students to attend this engaging workshop. All attendees will get a SOU swag and be entered to win AirPods.

Saturday, September 24, 2022: SOU + Mt. Ashland Day of Service
The entire SOU community is invited to participate in the SOU + Mt. Ashland Day of Service on September 24th, 2022!
Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and family and friends will join together for a day of stewardship to care for the slopes and buildings of our local nonprofit Mt. Ashland Ski Area! A variety of project work will be available for volunteers of all abilities and interests on this mountain clean-up day!
Check out the schedule:
- 9am – volunteer check-in outside The Hawk on Wightman Ave (those taking the SOU Bus)
- 9:45 – check-in at Mt. Ashland Ski Area Lodge (arriving independently)
- 10am to 1pm – Service work
- 1-2pm – Lunch and celebration at the Mt. Ashland Lodge
- 2pm – Buses depart Mt. Ashland, return to SOU by 3pm

All volunteers will receive lunch, transportation to and from the site, and a sweet “Raiders Volunteer” t-shirt! Mount Ashland will also be giving away coupons and other mountain swag!
