Spring 2025 Orientation Information
Attending orientation is an important and useful step to joining the Raider family. The information, activities, and resources shared during the week is advantageous for all first year, transfer, and returning SOU students.
The following goals and objectives will be met throughout the weeks’ events:
- Foster relationships between students and the broader SOU community.
- Promote belonging and inclusivity for new and returning students.
- Provide engaging events for students as they adjust to college life at Southern Oregon University.
- To connect new and returning SOU students with campus resources and student life.

Use your SOU email and password to sign into our student engagement platform called Hawk N.E.S.T. Hawk N.E.S.T. is your online landing to News, Engagement, Support, and Teamwork. On this platform, you can find, join, and interact with all of our active student-led clubs as well as view and register for upcoming events.

Trans Day of Remembrance Celebration
Join us for a festive evening of honoring and celebrating trans existence. There will be free food, booths for button making, face painting, arts and crafts, nail polishing, and much more! Our community partners, the RV Peppershakers, will be in attendance, giving away free gender-affirming products!

Welcome Back Lunch
Welcome new and returning students! Join the Belonging & Engagement team in the Social Justice & Equity Center (SU 308) for a lunch to celebrate the beginning of Spring Term. All students are invited to grab some lunch from our taco bar and meet other students as well as facutly and staff members who are here to support you in your SOU journey.

Educator Job Fair
Come to this education industry job fair to learn about full-time teaching positions, and a range of other full-time AND part-time positions, like educational support staff, coaches, administrative roles, substitute teachers, IT, and more. School districts from across the region will attend.

Club Showcase & Open Mic
Come learn about all of the different clubs you can get involved with on campus, as well as watch or perform in our open mic event! This event will showcase all of our student clubs, and you will have a chance to talk to club leaders to learn more about clubs, and maybe see them showcase some of their talents. The clubs will be tabling from 5:30 – 8 pm, and the Open Mic portion of the event will start at 6 pm. If you have any talent that you’d like to share, come attend and sign up for a performance slot!
